History

The journey that put the Avet course in the history books began in 2006, with the presentation of the first candidacy to host a World Cup in Andorra. But the Avet course first gained notoriety hosting the Women’s Europa Cup in 2008. To continue improving Avet’s technical conditions, a skiable footbridge was opened during the 2018-19 season that connected the course with the town of Soldeu. This added 14,000 m2 to the braking area, and provided ample space to be able to expand the number of stands for the public and the services necessary to guarantee all the emotion of top-level competitions. Following several editions of the Europa Cup, it wasn’t until 2019 that the Avet course (along with the Àliga course) finally became the stage for World Cup Finals.

Great skiers and true Olympic skiing athletes have contributed to the history of this course, which is also one of the best-rated by World Cup contenders. One of them, Tina Maze, a former Slovenian skier with two Olympic gold medals, said: “I loved competing here: a great course, fantastic people and a great atmosphere. I hope the World Cup continues to visit Andorra in the future”.
